Seminar on explosives safety held in Nagpur

NAGPUR: EXPLOSAFE-2016, a two-day national seminar on safety, security and recent trends in commercial and defence explosives was organized on June 3 and 4 by the Explosives Manufacturers Welfare Association (EMWA).
The technical collaboration was provided by Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO). The event was intended to serve as a platform for technical exchange and update of information related to safety and best practices connected to all the spheres of explosives' use. This covered areas from manufacturing to end use and also dwelt on using information technology for monitoring the movement of explosives.
The event was organized under the patronage of S Kamal, Chief Controller of Explosives, who heads PESO, said a press release. The seminar was inaugurated by RR Mishra, chairman-cum-managing director (CMD) of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL). The guests of honour included Dr KPS Murthy, director of high energy materials research laboratory (HEMRL), and PB Singh, Deputy Director General of Mines safety (west zone).
During this two-day seminar, 27 technical papers were presented by speakers from India and abroad. More than 350 delegates representing explosives industries, DRDO, ISRO, academicians and regulatory authorities attended the conference.
